Piercing Fact Sheet

Studex Surgical Stainless Steel

Studex uses only the finest high-grade stainless steel available in the manufacturing of its ear piercing studs. This material is categorised as surgical grade stainless steel.

Surgical stainless steel is a particularly effective material for manufacturing jewellery where long term contact with the skin is required.
The Studex ear piercing studs are manufactured using this stainless steel in order to afford the consumer the greatest protection possible against common hazards such as allergies and reactions with the skin.

Studex surgical stainless steel studs are high-quality products which combine the look with durability and due to the strong bonding action found in the metallurgic properties of this material; it prevents any sensitising though elements such as nickel leaching into the skin.
Because of these properties, surgical grade stainless steel is regarded as one of the best materials to use in the manufacture of ear piercing earrings. Studex surgical stainless steel is tumbled and highly polished after the jewellery is manufactured.
The System 75 ear piercing system uses 316 grade surgical stainless steel. This is the same grade that is widely used in the body piercing industry throughout the world for almost all initial body piercing.

X8 BODY JEWELLERY

X8 Body Jewellery

The X8 body jewellery brand uses highly polished 316L surgical stainless steel for the bulk jewellery and fashion jewellery styles. This is the same grade that is widely used in the body piercing industry throughout the world for almost all initial body piercing.

The X8 body jewellery range also includes polycarbonate retainers for the nose, eyebrow, lip and tongue.
Polycarbonate is a flexible translucent polymer material that does not contain nickel.
Polycarbonate items are made with a very smooth finish and are used to hold the piercing site open when metal jewellery is not being worn. The piercing site must be healed to wear a retainer as these items are generally not sterilised. Initial piercing jewellery should never be replaced until the piercing is completely healed.
